CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

PURPOSE AND WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The purpose of the Sonoma Environmental Film Festival (SEFF) is to educate, inspire and raise awareness about how to be greener on a daily basis.

Every day choices we make at home, at work, at school and leisure can nurture healthier lifestyles, help sustainable communities grow stronger while contributing positively to the health of our Planet.

Help us create a film festival that stands apart from others - by submitting films that are inspirational and hopeful! We are looking for shorts, documentaries, feature narratives, and animation of all lengths with environmental and social themes. Themes include water conversation and global water issues, eco fashion, organic gardens (urban, school, community) sustainable cultures and green building. We are looking for films that promote positive action.

We offer one Weekend Pass to each filmmaker who is accepted. These passes are good for all films, the Forum on Sustainable Living and the Sunday Organic Pancake Brunch. Since we are brand new, hotel lodging, ground and airfare are not possible to offer. However food and drinks are complimentary during the entire weekend and each filmmaker will receive 4 film passes good for one film for your guest. We will do our best to find you a place to stay with a local family who signs on as a Filmmaker Host.

This is a non-competitive film festival.

SUBMISSIONS

ENTRY GUIDELINES

Please read very carefully.

  • All entries must be completed online at Withoutabox.
  • Acceptance notifications will occur no later than October 29, 2010.
  • Submission format: NTSC DVD format only. No PALs accepted. Non-English entries must be submitted with English subtitles.
  • All entries must be clearly labeled with name, address, phone, and email. Your PREVIEW DVD and its cover must be labeled. If you want your entry returned, send a padded self addressed, stamped envelope. Entrant is responsible for customs clearances for returns.
  • For all selected films, filmmakers must supply 1-2 high resolution promo stills for festival publicity. We will notify you by email when we need the stills.
  • If accepted, the EXHIBITION format will be DVCAM or MINIDV. Your NTSC DVD will be used for backup. The EXHIBITION copy must arrive at the SEFF office no later than January 7, 2011. Filmmakers are responsible for shipping costs to the festival. SEFF will cover the return costs.
  • All entries selected into our 2011 festival grant SEFF the right to keep the DVD version for SEFF library and other educational purposes.
  • SEFF is not responsible for the loss or damage of any film.
  • Entry fees are nonrefundable and may be paid in the form of Visa, Mastercard, check or money order paid in U.S. dollars.
